Gourd Art

a fleshy, typically large fruit with a hard skin, some varieties of which are edible.

Grown in my grandmother's garden back in the early 2000's, my stockpile of gourds are about as old as me. After growing them, they must be put through a 2 year drying period. Luckily, these were stored safely in the rafters of her garage, waiting for me to rediscover them.

Here's how they look once I begin working with them.

The following images are some of the pieces I've created with this unique medium.
